Not long to go…

19th OCTOBER 2024

We’ve updated this website with all the latest information you need for when you come down to Swansea.

We’ll be in Swansea at Piermont Retreat from the 18th-23rd, you’re welcome to stay as short or as long as you’d like. There will be a casual recovery drinks on the afternoon of Sunday 20th for those still in the area.

We’ve also be put together a two day East Coast itinerary for the 21st and 22nd if you’d like to come along, details in your invitation.

PLANNING YOUR WEEKEND - UDPATED

ARRIVAL to TASMANIA

With most of you flying into Hobart, it’s only a 1 hour 45 minute drive to Swansea from the airport. If you’re staying in Hobart and want to do some sightseeing, please note MONA is only open on Friday-Monday so this Friday might be the only chance you get to pop in. We recommend you book your tickets in advance.

We also recommend you have a bite in Hobart (or Launceston) for lunch before heading out to Swansea.

FRIDAY NIGHT in SWANSEA

Food options are a bit limited in sleepy little Swansea but there are a couple of options. We ask you please do not book dinner at The Waterloo Inn on the Friday night as not to double up for the wedding reception. Our families will be dining at The Branch in Swansea on the Friday night. It’s a small tapas wine bar. Whilst this isn’t an official wedding event but feel free to book yourselves in for dinner there and join us for a wine.

Piermont has a lovely restaurant, Homestead, you can book in for Friday night.

BREAKFAST OPTIONS SATURDAY/SUNDAY

We love the cafe Cake and Honey, great food, great coffee. Feel free to head there Saturday for breakfast and they’re going to open on Sunday for us as a special treat for our hangover coffees.

RECOVERY DRINKS/LUNCH - Sunday 20th

We’ll be hosting our ‘recovery’ drinks at Devil’s Corner Winery on the Sunday after the wedding. We love the incredible views from this spot, its about 20 mins drive from Swansea. Make sure you have a designated driver in your group, carpool and we’ll see you there from about 1:00pm.

They do great wood fired pizzas, oysters and of course some great Tassie drops.

They close at 4pm so just bear that in mind if you’re not arriving on the dot.

DINNER OPTIONS (other than the wedding day)

As mentioned, food options are a bit limited in Swansea however on our road trip days, we’ll be passing some great local produce and there’s a little IGA in town. Lots of your accoms have a kitchen so we really recommend putting together an easy meal and cooking at your places, making the most of the great Tassie produce.

ROAD TRIP DAYS

For those joining on the road trip days, we’ll get in touch personally to talk about leaving times etc. There’s some big driving days and lots to cram in so if you want to come for all of it or just part of it.

A note about gifts…

Capturing the day…

Your presence means the world to us and we don’t need any gifts. However, if you should wish to contribute, we will have a wishing well at our reception where any contributions will go towards a pair of vintage chairs we have dreamed about for along time.

We would love to see all your photos you take on the day, there will be a QR code you can scan and you can instantly upload your images to a cloud. No need to download any apps. We just ask that the ceremony will be device free.

GETTING THERE

We recommend flying into Hobart or Launceston Airport.

Swansea is about a 1.5 hour drive from both cities. You can hire a car at either airport at roughly $100/day. With many of you coming down, we suggest you team up and can share some costs for transport and accommodation. We can get you in touch with others if you want to buddy up.

ACCOMMODATION

For your stay in Swansea, there are many options for accommodation at different price points.

We’ll be staying at Piermont where the ceremony will be taking place but pretty much all accommodation is a 5 minute or less drive to both the ceremony and reception venues. Please see below for a full range of accommodation options.

See you in Tassie!

FAQ

  • Please RSVP by 1st March 2024 so we can have an accurate headcount.

  • The dress code for our wedding is Black-Tie. For men, opt for a black suit or tuxedo with a black bow tie or black tie. Think very classic old Hollywood.

For women, long floor-length gowns, please feel free to go all out, there’s no bride to upstage here! We want our ladies to bring the colour and drama to the event.

If you want to read more about what black-tie means (and see some ideas for inspiration), click here.

  • For guests who have received an invitation with a "+1," you are welcome to bring a date to join in the celebration. However, please note that our guest list is carefully curated, and we kindly ask that only those with a designated "+1" on their invitation bring a guest. We hope you understand our desire to keep our celebration intimate and special.

  • We regret that we won't be able to accommodate children at the venue. We appreciate your understanding in helping us create the atmosphere we've envisioned for our special day.

  • In October, Swansea typically enjoys mild and pleasant weather. Expect cooler evenings with temperatures averaging 10º. While daytime temperatures can be warmer (averaging 17-20º), it's a good idea to prepare for cooler evenings. For our night event, we recommend wearing a jacket or a shawl however the reception is all indoors.

  • Your presence means the world to us and we kindly request no gifts. Should you wish to contribute, we’ll share further details on that closer to the date.
